West Indies fails to deliver with willow
West Indies got bundled out for 188 in the first innings as the Australian bowlers dominated. Kirk McKenzie showed resilience with a notable 50 off 94 balls at number 3, but the rest of the top-order struggled, none managing to exceed 13 runs. In a late flourish, the last-wicket pair of Kemar Roach and Shamar Joseph added a crucial 55 runs, extending the innings into the extra half-hour of the second session.
Joseph, the final batter to depart, contributed a commendable 36 runs off 41 balls, while Roach remained unbeaten on 17. Cummins and Josh Hazlewood both secured four wickets each for the hosts. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon took one wicket each, collectively orchestrating a dominant performance to dismantle the visitors batting lineup.
